You may hear, "Moms are the busiest people on earth." And while I wholeheartedly agree that is true, there is something amiss when a person only sits down to blog 4 times a year! I'm not that busy...geez.
So, what is new in the land of Sills?
1) Caleb Emery arrived 7:50am on March 19th weighing in at 7.1lbs and 19 3/4in long. At long last, I AM NOT PREGNANT! And we have a beautiful baby to show for those long 9 months. A beautiful baby that Isaac absolutely adores. There are predictions,by my husband, that they will be inseparable and these may very well come true as Isaac's new favorite phrase is "Bubby...kiss" (and if you know Isaac at all, you know he said it 6 times before he was satisfied we heard him).
2) We've made the leap to cloth diapers! If I seem excited by this...I am! A lot of work went into researching why I would even want to use cloth diapers as well as how to do it and what all those confusing terms are. Before I had my first child, I would have NEVER considered using a cloth diaper. But after seeing how much money we would save and how much better they are for the Earth God has entrusted us with, I couldn't help but make the switch.
I'm still learning a lot and believe me, there are days I feel like, 'Why am I doing this?' but usually when something is hard and requires perseverance, it's valuable. Be on the look out, because you may see a blog about our cloth diaper adventure coming soon!
3) Our first spring & summer in Calhoun has arrived! At least I think there was a spring in there somewhere...
We've been so busy and super excited with the work going on at the church. VBS is coming up. Rodney is planning a church trip to the Creation Museum. Gospel Meeting with Neal Kemp. It's going to be a busy, busy summer.
I can already tell that Kentucky life is going to be different than Evansville life. Although the heat has been the same, the alien-like mosquitoes are a new and not fun experience. After all the rain we recently had and all the flooding in our town (and yard) the bugs are out in full force and those nasty mosquitoes are mean and persistent. Good thing for us, we have a bug zapper, plug in bug repellants and a Rodney that's shown himself to be a fairly good bug killer. Although considering they attack the minute you step out of your house & at all hours of the day or night...I need to also find a good all-natural bug spray. I'm telling you, my prissy days are gone. Kentucky's gonna make a woman out of me...
Well, I think those are the highlights. The lower less mentionable points: I killed my starter garden so lets hope for next year, giving up soda and hopefully most of the sugars I became addicted to while I was pregnant, figure out a way to get everything done in a day with two kids under the age of 2, overhaul our eating habits (that again became crazy while I was preggers) and get back to healthy, whole food eating and try really hard to have some fun this summer and not let it fly by! Whew. Oh...and blog, like, more than every three months...
