Great Christmas Ideas

Well, I guess I should start this blog out by saying, Happy Birthday Mom, Dad & Chris! We've had fun hanging out, going shopping and eating out for those three close birthdays. Mmmm... Los Bravos!
But now that those three monumental (hehe) things are at an end, it turns my mind to thinking about Christmas. I know your thinking, "Already? She's thinking about Christmas already?".
The answer is 'yep'. Having never done a really great job about buying Christmas all year round like some people do (a great idea by the way!), the extent of my planning is usually buying a month or two in advance. And with only 39 days until Christmas... I better get crackin'! So here are some of my ideas for gifting this Christmas:
1) Family Pictures. These are great for doting grandparents! Put either a family picture or just a picture of your little one in a cute frame and it's any grandparents delight!

2)Homemade gifts. Whether it's homemade bread (yummm), kitting a scarf, or making party mix, homemade gifts are a wonderful option for Christmas. Some other options are: homemade preserves, cookies, bake a pie, make a candle, make some jewelry, or write a poem.

3) Green gifts. "Green" doesn't have to mean an expensive gift with a label of "green" on it. One of my favorite eco-friendly gifts are not new at all. Think Amazon.com. You can often find great books that are almost new for a fraction of the price. Another green gift idea I'm considering needs it own heading...

4) Soap Solutions. Some friends of ours have started this amazing business of non-toxic products, all homemade. I have a mind to just buy a ton of products and give only Soap Solutions for Christmas because the prices are amazingly affordable! They offer homemade soaps, soy candles, bath salts, bath teas, and several other neat items. You can find all of their stuff at their website http://soapsolutionsonline.com

Well, for now, that's all I've got. Maybe those ideas will help you too! I'll definitely keep you posted on how these develop but not too closely since I have family that reads this blog :-)

Catching Up!

Gosh, July 2009! I've been slacking :-). But in my defense, we've had sooo much going on. Let me catch you up on the highlights!
1) We moved! Two weeks early which put our move date the weekend after Isaac's birthday party. Thankfully, I have wonderful friends that helped me pack in a frenzy. It took us a while to get settled in but we're officially Kentuckians! And, I might add, loving the new pace of life (and the quietness of living in the country).
2) Preggers again! Yep, that's right! We're expecting baby #2 in late March. It was a little unexpected but a blessing just the same. We have our first ultrasound tomorrow morning so I'll keep everyone posted on the exciting news to come.
3) Rapid growth. That may sound a little strange but I don't mean the size of our family this time. Moving to Calhoun, Rod changing jobs, ministering at a new church, being out of our comfort zones... all of those things have jump started the growth in our lives in a lot of different avenues. Six months ago you would have never seen me making an effort to cook healthy meals from scratch, bake homemade bread, make meal plans, or use Isaac's nap time for my prayer time but now... I'm doing it! It amazes me that I fought against this life for so long, thinking it would be stressful (and it would be if my reliance was in myself and not God) but now, I find it such a joy! As I'm sure you can tell with all my exclamation marks...hehe.
Well, it's not much but those are the important marks in our life that will most likely effect this blog, so I wanted to mention them. I think that will be all for now. If I remember...more to come!
